Preparing for Your Newborn Photography Session
Scheduling: Once you’ve chosen your photographer, be sure to book your session early in your pregnancy so you can secure a spot for the right timeframe.
What to Bring: If you’re doing a studio session, you don’t need to bring anything extra, as at MHB Photography I provide blankets, props, and backdrops. However, if you want to incorporate sentimental items, such as a family heirloom, be sure to communicate this with me beforehand.
Outfits: Most newborns are best photographed in the nude or in simple, cosy wraps and blankets. Overly busy outfits can take away from the beauty of the natural features. If you'd like your baby to wear a certain outfit, go for something soft and neutral that complements the natural look.
Feeding and Napping: Arrive well-rested and fed. Ideally, your baby should be fed and ready for a nap before the session starts. This will help them stay calm and relaxed for the photos.
Patience Is Key: Newborn sessions can take some time. Babies are unpredictable, and there may be moments where they need to be comforted, fed, or changed. It’s important to go into the session with a relaxed attitude and a sense of patience.
Newborn photography is a wonderful way to capture the fleeting, precious moments of your baby’s early days. Whether you’re booking a session with a professional photographer or taking photos yourself, the goal is to preserve memories that you will cherish for years to come. So, take the time to plan your session carefully, enjoy the experience, and most importantly, savor every moment with your little one. These first memories are truly priceless.
